Tour Information

It's Your Legacy Legacy is a unique teaching program for school children, grades K-12 that uses archaeological and anthropological methods and techniques to promote and demonstrate cultural preservation through public education and outreach.

Each thematic unit guides students through a deeper understanding of "how we know what we know". Some of the areas covered include:

Your tour of the Legacy Program at the Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) will take 2 1/2  hours and there is a minimum of 20 students per tour. The Legacy Program provides an indoor lab tour at a cost of $5.00 per person.  Legacy also offers a mock excavation add-on for students at an additional cost of $2.00 per person. Group size is limited to 40 students. If you have a larger group we can schedule multiple visits on consecutive days. A picnic area is available on the UTSA/CAR grounds for lunch.

Custom Tours
Custom tours can be designed to fit your curriculum. Contact us to discuss the topic you would like to have covered. Custom tours are $7 per student (with an additional $2 add-on for mock digs). We will do our best to meet your educational needs.

Mrs. Bassett's 3rd and 4th grade class from Fernandez Elementary School came to CAR for a special Legacy tour to kickoff their Lewis and Clark unit!
